As much as I might like to see more of my brand of horror/fetish in popular media, I don't know if I could ever give up my Torg character to be written by someone else, or placed into a movie (as if that would ever happen, but I like to imagine it). Mostly because I know they would likely get it so wrong. Torg may be a simple guy with a vorish appetite, sure, but he is not simply a monster to provide thrills and chills in a slasher fic. In my mind he represents the broken parts of society, the strife and helplessness, and the urge to fight back when pushed too far. He still isn't a hero. Given the chance, he would undoubtedly eat everyone and savor it, too. But by accident, and with a little kindness, he may become a hero to the least of us.

...now imagine trying to convey that in a horror movie and failing spectacularly, and you get an idea of what I worry about.

The Day Of The Beast - El día de la bestia (1995) Spanish horror, Comedy

It shouldn't be shocking to me when my fandom worlds collide. I think I’ve made it pretty obvious here I’m a horror movie fan and a fan of the band Ghost. 

Typically I would watch El día de la bestia as a Christmas holiday treat and last night I decided to watch it while catching up with The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs. Ironically the band Ghost was mentioned in Joe Bob’s commentary and it kinda shook me because the main character (Padre Ángel) always reminded of Copia but I shrugged it off because as a long time fan of Ghost (and I think some of you can relate) I see Ghost everywhere lol 

If you've never seen the movie here's my synopsis 

Set out on committing as many sins as possible in the hopes of contacting the devil and an invite to the birth of the antichrist. A Catholic priest on Christmas Eve teams up with a Metal record store clerk and an Italian occultist to avert the birth of the antichrist and prevent the end of the world.

Padre Ángel (the Catholic priest) although committed in his task, his lack of true villainy is comedically prevalent. In his innocence to commit these sins he blunders along. His biggest crimes are pushing a mime over a railing and taking change out of a homeless cripples cup. Not nice, but not exactly worthy of the devils glance but he tries. 

Copia’s innocence was also pretty prevalent taking over the Ministry from the start. The failed fist bump, checking his non existent wrist watch, crashing his tricycle into a wall etc. He’s always been a blunderer, even now as a Papa.

But what they both have in common (besides the antichrist) is their exceptional physical comedy 

The Day Of The Beat is an EXCELLENT movie and I understand if you don't like Joe Bob Briggs (he does have some questionable ideals) BUT watch the movie without him (or with) and then come back and tell me what you see ✌🏻🖤👻

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? The world exists in such a baffling state of simultaneous sex-aversion and sex-hegemony. Every social platform on the internet is trying to banish sex workers to the shadow realm but I can't post a tweet without at least two bots replying P U S S Y I N B I O. People are self-censoring sex to seggs and $3× but every other ad you see is still filled with half-naked women. Rightwingers want queer people arrested for so much as existing in the same postal code as a child and are also drumming up a moral panic about how teenage boys aren't getting laid enough.
